Thanks for stopping by. I invite you to mill around my site, see what you see, and maybe add to that by way of replies, feedback, or your own contributions. Below, you’ll find a quick tour of the site, a glance at my first book, and a hint or two about navigating the growing number of blogs here.

10-cent Tour of this Site

First, this site is to promote my book, which is featured below. Some people wonder why a fella would write a whole book on BS. I get it. I will hopefully answer that below so you get it too. More books are coming but that takes time.

Second, this site shares all sorts of opinions by way of blogs, to engage people on any number of issues out there.  I invite you to read them,  think about them, comment on them, and perhaps post a few of your own opinions. I’ll be happy to post yours if you like, as a means of increasing public discussion.

Third, the site tells you a few short words about me, the above mentioned fella. To avoid scaring small children and the squeamish, there are few photos of me on this site.

Fourth, this site allows you a means of finding my book in a convenient way, and an easy way of contacting me should you want to.  Retailer links for the book are to the upper left. Tabs for contact are above and to the right.

Last, this site allows you to share with other people what I put out there. You may want to do that because you like (or not) what you read here, because you want to say to someone, “Hey, look what some knob put on the ‘net!”, because you want to join a dialogue on an issue, or because you want to start your own. Share  away.

The Full Scoop on BS provides a light yet compelling examination of BS, an almost constant element in society. Without understanding it, BS can and has buried untold numbers. Yet a systematic understanding of what BS is, how it can be recognized, and how it can be countered will allow readers to navigate their world with far less BS dropping in their way. Of course, everyone thinks they know what BS is, but do they? More importantly, do you?

If you check out various vendors of my book, you may notice it is listed under the humour genre by some and the spirituality/religion genre by others. If you wonder which it is, the answer is yes.  To be sure, I have a philosophical bent. However, a former colleague of mine, Gord Scott, once said that when you’re laughing you’re learning. Few people raise more issues about what people think, and when they don’t think, than comics. I’m not a comic but I try add humour to make my points as practical and memorable as possible. It’s not like I’ll start off with, “So this guys goes into a bar…” but I find humour in a lot of situations and I hope you will too.

On the Blogs

So this guy goes to a bar and starts thinking, “Hey, I have opinions but most people here are half in the bag and they all have opinions, and they get to vote!”

Barrooms should not, in my view, be the number one place for social discourse. So I share a growing list of blogs on important topics and not so important ones. I usually use the less important or downright silly topics to draw a connection to something important. I’m not telling you not to drink when you read them; that’s your call.

The blogs are categorized, boxed if you prefer, under certain broad topics. If you look at a particular blog and want to see others under the same category, simply click on that category (above the blog title) to reveal all of the blogs in that same box. So far, those categories are cognition, critical thinking, news, and public engagement. As with people and topics, few of the blogs fit into only one box. As I said above, I welcome your contributions too, whether you agree with me or not, and in whatever box(es) you prefer.

With your tour done,

look around. I hope you enjoy what you see, engage in some of it, share it with others, and come back. Thanks again for stopping by.
